Every Gift Is a First Act of Love
Every time you give, you create a First Act of Love — keeping children out of foster care and in the arms of the people who make them feel at home!
A Story of an Act of Love
When the phone rang that afternoon, Ms. Carol’s heart sank.
It was DFCS on the line. The voice on the other end said,
“Ms. Carol… we need you to come pick up your 3 grandchildren.
If no one can get them in the next few hours, they’ll have to go into foster care.”
Everything stopped.
She didn’t have time to think about the extra groceries she’d need, or how she’d make room in her small apartment, or whether she could afford another pair of little shoes.
She just said Yes.
Because that’s what love does.
That moment — her decision to drop everything and open her door — was her First Act of Love.
Within hours, her 3 grandchildren were home, safe, and wrapped in the comfort of a family member. But love alone doesn’t pay the bills or buy school supplies. The days ahead were hard.
That’s where ISDD stepped in.
With emergency support, case management, and guidance, ISDD helped Ms. Carol keep her family together — providing the stability and care she needed so her love could continue to grow.
Today, across Georgia, families like Ms. Carol’s are answering that same call — sometimes with only hours to decide, always with love at the center.
This Giving Tuesday, you can be part of those First Acts of Love.
Your gift helps relatives step up for children in crisis, keeping them safe, out of foster care, and surrounded by the people who love them most.
Because love isn’t just a feeling —
it’s what we do when it matters most.
